History: Established in 1947 as Austin Municipal Federal Credit Union (AMFCU), we later changed our name to Austin Metropolitan Financial Credit Union as our field of membership grew beyond our core City of Austin employee membership. In 2003, we changed our name to Velocity Credit Union to better reflect our forward momentum in growth of membership, and products and services. We started in the basement of the City of Austin Utility services and have quickly grown to become the second largest credit union in Austin, Texas with five convenient locations in Austin and Round Rock. Velocity Credit Union is a high energy, forward-thinking, competitive financial institution committed to improving the financial lives of our members.
