About the owner: Chelle Sims opened Urban Betty Salon in January of 2005. She attended beauty school the years of 1993-1995 at Abilene High School, and has been doing hair for just over 10 years. She moved to Austin for its diversity and the ability to be more creative. Austin has a great mix of Urban Cowboy with a rocker influence. She started working as a licensed beautician in 1995 and within 2 years was working at Salon 505 in the Arboretum. She made the move to the prestigious Bella Salon in an enviably short amount of time, where she did exciting things such as the Susan Dell fashion show. And from there she became and independent contractor and rented a suite at the Gallery of Salons for 3 1/2 years. In doing that, she set the bar to open her own Salon! In 2001 Chelle placed 2nd in the nation-wide Wella Hair colorist of the year contest! Chelle specializes in Wella Koleston Perfect Hair color and Updos and has attended many classes and hair shows to learn the most current styles & trends. Her choices of products are PureOlogy, Wella System Professional, and Loma. Her favorite tool by far is the Chi Iron. She has donated numerous gift certificates & services to the Seton Fund, surrounding Austin elementary schools and the Women's Chamber of Commerce. Chelle gives free haircuts to those wanting to donate their ponytail to Locks of Love, a charity that makes wigs for children with cancer. Chelle's future goals are to expand Urban Betty into a full spa and possibly a second location. "I love what I do because I can always look forward to a new experience with each person. I have the free will to create art that people can take home with them, art that makes them feel beautiful."

Products and Services: Hair salon uses Bumble and bumble and PureOlogy products while offering cuts, coloring, highlights, updos and facial waxing.

History: Winner of KVUE 2007 Salons in the City! Urban Betty Salon opened in Austin, Texas on January 4th, 2005. The concept and website have been in place since 2002. It is a salon with a shabby chic/retro ambiance. The stylists are a family of friendly faces and talent. We have an artist for every spectrum of client, from rockabilly to soccer mom. Complimentary beverages including wine and beer are always offered after you walk in the door along with a warm greeting and smile. Urban Betty feels like "home" and will have all clients looking so fantastic, they will want to go anywhere but.
