About the owner: After graduating from the University of Texas Business School with a BBA in Marketing, Luisa Mauro gained an abundant amount of sales experience while working with Xerox Corporation. In 2001, she joined the family restaurant business as Carmelos first Director of Group Marketing. In the beginning of 2005 she purchased a 1930s remodeled bungalow in Central Austin. Her Sicilian family believes owning property is the ultimate investment, so Luisa obtained her real estate license in 2002 and became a broker in 2006. Luisa is actively involved in numerous professional organizations. One of her first affiliations was with Les Dames dEscoffier. She was the President of the Greater Austin Restaurant Association in 2005. Luisa is active on the board of the Texas Restaurant Association and volunteers on the Leadership Task Force. She is a current Board Member of Austin Hospitality and Lodging Association and the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce (selected as one of 50 CEOs for their new program, Austin 50). She also sits on the South Austin Business Council. She volunteers on the Tourism Council and is on the board of the Austin Sports Commission through the Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau. Luisa sits on the advisory board for the Texas Hill Country Wine and Food Festival and recently chaired the first Sip and Stroll at The Domain. She is also a member of La Chaine des Rotisseurs. Luisa has a proficiency in Italian and has completed courses in Italian language and culture in Sicily and Florence. Her passion for languages and discovering new cultures makes traveling one of her favorite pastimes.

History: After practicing real estate for four years, my business partner and I opened Marathon Real Estate in 2006. During our first year in business we hosted a trail clean up day at Lady Bird Lake with the Trail Foundation, donated over $12,000 to charities we are passionate about (such as cancer research, the Trail Foundation, etc), helped over 60 Austinites buy/sell homes, hosted a Green Building seminar, hosted an Estate Planning seminar, donated over 100 pair of shoes to a local homeless shelter, and hosted numerous parties (such as a Grand Opening, Art and Martini Party, and an Anniversary Celebration).
