About the owner: Jon, a New York transplant, originally came to Texas as a musician and fell in love with Austin. His love of regional foods and quirky food establishments led him to start The Best Wurst. One aspect of New York and "the old neighborhood" that Jon says he missed was the neighborhood shops and "old world" sense of community, thus he models his business with such a philosophy-be the community and treat folks well.
Products and Services: The Best Wurst serves quality sausage sandwiches and, maybe, a little attitude--that's about it! But if you're looking for great late-night eats, this is the place. But keep your eyes peeled; this is perhaps the smallest and most efficient kitchen in Austin. They work out of a four by five kiosk on the street.
Bratwurst, Smoked Italian, Jalapeno, and All Beef Sausages are the staple items on the menu, and occasionally there are specialty sausages available. All sandwiches are served on a soft white roll with a choice of grilled onions and bell peppers, hot sauerkraut and Düsseldorf mustard. Also, their menu offers--"for those in the know"--Curry Ketchup; it's their own recipe and is to die for.

Also serving lunch at 9th and Congress
